Current Available Dogs

Below is a listing of dogs currently available for adoption by BCRO. PLEASE take the time to read the bio's fully ... we put alot of effort into evaluating    and working with the dogs in foster care. If the dog you are interested in is not a suitable match we are always willing to find the dog that is.

We do not adopt to homes with Chidren under 10 yrs old. Most of our dogs come into foster care already having negative experiences and history with kids, under no circumstances we will not adopt these dogs back into homes with children.

Our adoption fee is $200. All dogs are altered and UTD on shots prior to placement.

If you are interested in adopting one of these dogs, please fill out an application, or get in touch with us for more information. Email addresses and phone numbers are available on our contact page.

PLEASE NOTE:  Please check out http://www.petfinder.com for more courtesy listings and other BC and BC X's available through other sources.

QUINCEY

GREAT ACTIVE COMPANION DOG! HIKING, FRISBEE FUN!!!!

Sponsered by

The Swanwick family-Owners of Sally and Kate(Quincey's sister and half sister)

CBCA registered male Border Collie, neutered and UTD on shots. Quincey is a gorgeous 3 yr old BC. He was relinquished to us from his second home where he was given FREE out of a ad in the paper. After exhibiting some undesired BC traits he was deemed aggressive and sheduled to be PTS.

Quincey has defintely not had the opportunities in life that he deserved. He has blossomed in foster care and has really settled with his neuter. He is a super active boy that loves to play ball and frisbee. He goes to daycare once a week with his foster mom and LOVES to play with the other dogs.  Quincey is looking for a home with a owner with BC experience, if someone commits to him he will be a exceptional and loyal companion. This is a GREAT dog!

Would do best without cats but with management could co exist.

Sally, Quincey's full sister competed at the 2007 AAC regional championships and the 2007 National Championships.

THEY ROCKED IT! Congrats to Steve and Sally.

DOMI

WONDERFUL COMPANION

Approx 4 yrs old, UTD on shots and neutered.

This is a intense little dog with a ton of love to give, he is a love bug and adores his people and can be a real goofy boy! He makes us laugh. Although he is intense Domi isn't a high matienence dog when it comes to exercise. He is quite happy to go for long leash walks and then settles wonderfully in the house. He loves to play with his toys and is keen to learn, he quickly warms up to new people when introduce calmly and positively. Currently he is living in foster care with a number of other Border Collies and he is doing great they are helping to teach him some manners! He is very herdy with other dogs and gets overly stimulated. He also is living with a parrot and although initially had very little impulse control he has quickly learned to leave it alone. He will be looking for a BC savvy home who has had experience with a dog that is INTENSE! who can give him lots of long walks in the forest and continue to build on his skills, impulse control and challange him.  In return you will get a fabulous companion.

No cats(or only SUPER dog savvy) or kids!

RALLY

EXPERIENCED DOG OWNER, SPORT OR HERDING HOME.

Rally is doing wonderful in his foster home but will need a very dog experience owner who has good training skills and is willing to continue to work with him. He definitely needs a focus. He is very relaxed and loves the cottage environment and just try to keep him out of the lake. If he is to be placed with another dog it will take time to socialize him, while it would be easier to place him alone he does enjoy the company of the other dogs and likes to play. He will not be placed around kids, he needs a adult only home!!!!!

2 yr old Male Border Collie

Neutered and UTD on shots.

Crate trained.

Rally is doing really well in foster care, we have been working hard to socialize him with both people and dogs. He does still need to be managed. Rally is a intense boy who LOVES to play frisbee and also swimming , we are currently starting him on some foundation sport training to help build confidence and give him something to do . He is a big handsome boy at approx 21 inches and 45 lbs.

ABSOLUTLY NO KIDS!!!!

CODY

UPDATED BIO!

Cody, a 2 yr old single breed border collie from registered working parents.  He is neutered, up to date on shots, and knows basic commands.  Cody is very shy at first, but once he warms up to people he is the sweetest little guy ever. At about 33 lbs Cody is on the small side (people think he is much younger than he is), with a tri-color smooth coat. He thinks he is a lap dog, and will wiggle his way up onto any couch or chair and then into your lap.  Cody is easy going around the house, and settles nicely after some exercise.  Cody has learned to love to play ball.  His favourite is the jolly ball, and he definitely lets you know when he is ready to play by barking or by strategically placing the ball over your foot which he can then munch.  Cody also loves a good wrestle, and game of ‘chase me’ with my pups, but can be annoying and bossy when meeting new dogs.  His absolute favourite activity though is to follow the cat around the house, much to her annoyance.

Cody has come a long way in learning to trust us and wanting to engage with us.  We have been working on building Cody’s confidence, and focus, by introducing him to some basic agility exercises - jumping, touching a target, down on the table, walking over a plank, going through a tunnel.  He likes to work for his ball and I have noticed that his enthusiasm for doing these activities is increasing.  With time and patience who knows what potential Cody has.  Cody is very happy going for walks and playing some ball and would make someone an excellent active companion.

Now that the warmer weather has arrived, we will have a lot more opportunities to work on his socialization skills.  We have been to two flyball tournaments and Cody was great in his crate and hanging out in-between races.  Cody will need an owner who is patient and is willing to continue to work with him.

JESSE

ACTIVE PET HOME

OR SPORTS POTENTIAL

Jessie is a 4 year old Lab/Beagle mix.  Jessie was one of our foster home’s dogsitting clients from the time she was a puppy.  She was originally adopted from the SPCA at 4mths old, and was relinquished to BCRO last fall.  She has lost her excess weight, become an active sporty dog, and has improved her dog social skills and enjoys playtimes with the dog groups every day.  She is good with most dogs, likes to play, and is fairly active.  She has her limits with some dogs as she doesn't tolerate pushy or physical dogs, but she usually walks away from dogs she doesn't want to play with.

Jessie was relinquished because she became too much for her owners to handle - they needed to manage her better, and Jessie soon found she could control her environment by growling or being defensive.  She hasn’t bitten, but has snapped a few times.  If she is handled in a non-confrontational, calm, yet strong manner, she is usually fine.  Her foster mom has known her since she was a puppy, and generally has no problems with her, but she knows her limits and how to calmly handle her.  Her owners tried hard to make this work for them, and finally decided to give her up last fall.

Jessie is crate trained, has some obedience training, and has started flyball training - working on that swimmers turn - she loves to work for food!!

Jessie is a fun dog that will make a nice companion, and maybe a starter performance dog for the right home.  Jessie would thrive in an active home where she would be part of the family, get an opportunity to get out and about to exercise and interact, and maybe even do some sports!  She would be best in a home that has some dog experience, and for safety we would suggest that she not be placed in a home with children.

BUDDY ACES

Approx 2 yr old Australian Shepherd - BC X. Red Tri WITH a tail!

Neutered

This handsome boy is VERY people focused. He has very little training but is keen to be with his person.

He has had 2 homes that have not committed to taking care of him and ended up in a shelter after running loose on the QEW.

Buddy Aces is food and toy motivated. As he has been left to his own devices he does a bit of guarding around his toys once he has them, he will trade up happily for a treat and consistency in the area will help him learn that the best part of the toy is interecting with it with his person.

Buddy Aces is crazy friendly and will bond quickly to his new people, he does enjoy playing with other dogs and seems to be okay around cats.

It will be mandatory that who ever adopts Buddy Aces they be signed up for one full session of obedience classes with a positive reinforcement trainer.

BREW

DOG SPORT POTENTIAL!

SPONSERED IN MEMORY OF

BILL GIGNAC

Brew has been sponsered by Bill's friends Pat Nadarajah, Claire Gordon and Lynne Wayliw. On April 4,2008 Bill succumbed to bladder cancer and died in Texas. Bill and his BC Bert won the
Agility Nationals in 2006 and Bill was a dedicated trainer, owner and friend
to many.

Bill and Bert at the 2006 USDAA Nationals

21 month old male Border Collie.

Neutered and UTD on shots.

Looking for your next Disc dog superstar? Agility Champion?

Brew Ha Ha is a awesome young dog. This dog has SUPER drive and will excell at any venue for dog sports or activities. He LOVES to tug and will flip himself inside out to catch a toy.

He has been recently neutered and this has almost completely extuguished his naughty boy behavior.

Brew does have a edge to him while working, he will need a experienced handler on the other end of the leash. He does have a great off switch in the house and also is doing really well with his crate training.

Training classes will be mandatory on Brew's adoption contract.

NO KIDS

BLAZE

20 month old male Border Collie.

HENDRIX

8 month old Border Collie Puppy.

Neutered and UTD on shots.

Heni is a GREAT puppy, he is super active and friendly. This boy loves to play ball and will run and run and run.....

We have been working very hard to build on his social skills in foster care and he is doing great meeting and greeting with other dogs. He also lives happily with other BC's in foster care. Hendrix does have some guarding tendencies but we have continued to work and manage these in foster care and he is doing great. This is something his new home will have to continue.

Hendrix is quite a big boy but is actually very high drive, he would do extremely well in any sports. The best part is that he has a off switch in the house!

It will be mandatory for any adopter to commit to taking a session of obedience classes with this boy.

DUDLEY

ADOPTED!

The dogs listed below are not in

our foster program. Either they are waiting

to come in due to lack of space or we are working with owners to place the dogs directly from their homes or rescue group.

Adoption applications will be forwarded to current owners.

HOLLY

2.5 yr old female Border Collie. Spayed and UTD on shots. Crate trained.

Holly is a gorgeous good sized girl, she is looking for a new home as her previous home was unable to give manage her and do some training around their new grandchild. Currently she is back with her breeder.

Holly's relatives are very successful sport dogs. Even at 2.5 this girl is definitely worth considering for a potential partner. She is very toy motivated and LOVES to play frisbee. She needs a home that has some previous training experience and understand about BC behavior.  She can be stand offish upon first meetings but is a snuggle bug with those she knows. She is fine with other dogs, can be a bit herdy and intimidating to smaller dogs. Would DEFINITELY find cats interesting! and might do best in a cat free home.

Holly loves to hike and swim and currently lives with a number of other dogs and gets along great. No small children.

All applications for Holly will be forwarded to directly to her current home.

AMBER

Amber is a 11 month old border collie mix who has been in private foster care for over two months now.  Her previous family surrendered her to staff at a  veterinary clinic as they were moving and having great difficulty with Amber interacting  with the young child in the household.  Amber is spayed ,up to date on all vaccines  and microchipped with 24 PetWatch. She has been on Interceptor for heartworm and intestinal worm control.  Amber is 22 inches at the shoulder and weighs about 42 lbs.  She is a moderately active dog and doing well with 1 hour walk morning and night and some play time with the other dogs in the household.  Amber loves playing ball and chasing the laser pointer around the living room.  She has been tried on sheep and displayed significant herding instinct. She has just learned to swim and quite enjoys it. She is completing a basic obedience class at Barrie Canine Connection and doing well with learning.  Amber is currently living with three other dogs and 5 cats without any major issues. Amber tends to be reactive with strangers and in certain situations . She also has very mild resource guarding with her food and crate.  Amber is looking for a home with NO children and someone who is willing to continue to train and socialize her as she is lacking somewhat in the social skills . Amber would most likely enjoy low impact type sports  and playing ball with someone. She may do well with another dog to play with and to help reduce her anxiety in novel situations.  Amber would do best with someone who has had herding/ guarding dog experience due to her reactivity.   Those interested in Amber can contact Dr Jen Budarick at Molson Park Pet Hospital either at 705-739-0773 or email at molsonparkph@bellnet.ca.
